Rock Star: Supernova?

Rock Star TV Show Returns With Tommy Lee, Jason Newsted

Who is Supernova, you may ask? It's a new supergroup featuring drummer Tommy Lee, bassist Jason Newsted and one-time Guns 'N Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke.

"Friends of mine, like Slash, Macy Gray, Moby and Rob Zombie, will join us and throw in their two cents about who should stay and who should go," said [host Dave] Navarro. Tommy Lee added, "[..]Starting a new band with old friends on worldwide television is going to be a blast, and we're going to pull out all the stops to find the most charismatic and musically talented lead singer to front Supernova."

I'm a sucker for Rock Star, so I will check this out. However, I expect a lot of performing from the current Supernova members alongside the contestants, since they're not an established band. The house band, if there is one, should have a reduced role. If they keep the format exactly the same as Rock Star: INXS, I'm probably going to declare "shenanigans".

Unfortunately for Lee, Newsted, and Clarke, there's already a band called Supernova. Based on this forum post, it's unclear whether they'll try to protect their name.

as a huge fan of both guns and roses and motley crue im excited about this im looking forward to seeing tommy and gilby each week i would like to also see the contestants perform guns and roses songs and motley crue songs and mettalica.

Clearly the one dominating is Ryan. Prior to his original version I was backing Lucas all the way but Ryans unique talent for lyrics and performance is now outdoing all.
Who on earth cld listen to Dilana sing for an entire (mind numbing) concert. Not me!!!!

I really like Ryan, lucas, magni and dilana. But I have to say after last night dilana has dissappointed me she is definitely letting this all go to her head and Ryan was right about the comment he had in result. She just attacked him out of the blue. And then lucas wow what balls!?!?! I am starting to like Ryan and magni more and more especially when they both did the slower music... I love this show!

I also think Dilana crossed the line with her badmouthing of Ryan and Lukas. I don't think she's going to be the front-runner in the eyes of the band any more.

Dilana should learn to hide her emotions. She is the only intuitive performer on the show - all the others can only hope! But that doesn't give her the right to openly criticize her peers. It's a great show and I'm totally addicted.

Toby is not only a gorgeous guy what a voice and entertainer.
I am not a biast aussie but this guy has the whole package.
All these guys in this show are fantastic and I wish them all the best but Toby HAS to be the choice by far

omg i am absolutly in love and i mean in love with lukas!!! he is beyond hot and his voice is just so amazing and every time i hear it i get chills!!!! i will vote for him til he wins and even if he doesnt win which is very unlikely i will still be his biggest fan!!!!!

My favourites are Ryan and Toby. They both look great and sound great. They have an "Oh my gosh..WoW," thing about their performances. Toby has the whole package. AND I JUST CAN'T GET OVER RYAN'S ORIGINAL SONG. I really don't like Lukas' performances, they don't do anything for me, I get bored.

I'm a huge fan of the show. I really don't want Dilana to win anymore. I want Toby to win and have no freaking idea why he was in the bottom three.

I LOVE ryan star, I don't get why people think he looks like Adam Sandler.
I really really really love his original song "Back of your car" I can't get it out of my head. The lyrics and the whole idea is the s**t

After tonight's show, I'm leaning towards Toby to win. Ryan's performance was inspired but overblown. Dilana was given a softball of a song (for her). Storm had the most challenging song. Toby sang great backups for Storm (and was graceful about it) and gave a great "Rebel Yell". Lukas' re-arrangement of "Lithium" was OK, but his vocal liberties are really starting to annoy me. Magni did great.
