Deadwing, Where Art Thou?

UPS tracking tells me that my copy of the Deadwing Special Edition is here in Harrisburg after its long jaunt from California. Perhaps I'll receive it tomorrow? A day earlier than UPS said? More like a week late.

I hope you get yours and that it's worth the money. For me, the price was too steep (plus I can take that $30 and spend it on the DTS DVD-A version and a ticket to the Philly show... :)

But I do have to admit that part of me really doesn't like the excessive milking of the fanbase at times, what with all the limited editions and having to buy multiple copies of the same album to get everything...

It arrived today! The packaging is similar to the OSI special edition, except that the book is pretty huge. I don't know that I'm into its kind of art, though. ;)

I'm just starting to check out the discs now. Will post about them after dinner.

The DVD-V disc has DTS 5.1 and LPCM 2.0 tracks and contains "She's Moved On" but no other bonuses. It has a decent layout, although in my brief once-over I didn't see any full-motion video. The audio disc didn't hold any surprises; it's just nice to have the full-res version of the disc finally.

All in all, I'm hoping this edition is exclusive enough to be collectible. Technically, I'd probably be happier with the extra content on the DVD-A. I think if I hadn't been listening to the album for a month and a half already I'd be a lot more excited about this. ;) I think I just jumped on the chance to have a special edition of the album without fully considering the DVD-A version.

Sounds like it's got cool packagine. That being said, I'm glad I saved my money.
