Goodbye BigZoo, Hello OneSuite

We haven't carried long distance on our landline for years, since we rarely use it; like many families, we're increasingly keeping in touch via email. For the last few years we had used BigZoo as our calling card LD service. They folded on 2/1, unbeknownst to me; they say they emailed a warning in November. I haven't gone back to check yet. After a quick Google, I found a reference to a company with a similar service called OneSuite [my referral link, should you decide to sign up] and signed up with them yesterday. They have slightly lower rates than BigZoo did, and multiple local access numbers (BigZoo had none in our area). I'll let you know if I have any problems with them.

Have you looked into using Skype? Ed called me with Skype the other night and it was crystal clear! Clearer than any phone I've EVER had. It's multiplatform and FREE to call other Skype users on their computers. You can call actual phones for a very small fee. I think it's like 2 cents a minute. Not sure what the Euro exchange is.

I've been using Skype for a while now with Scott to record our podcasts. (Shame on you for not knowing that! :) ) I haven't looked into the SkypeOut rates. I don't think that pushing my wife and our extended families off of the phone onto computers would be a fun exercise.

Thanks for the suggestion, though.

LOL... sorry, I didn't realize you were using Skype. My bad. Beat me like a red-headed step child. :)

You're right, trying to tell all of your relatives to use the computer to call you just wouldn't work. But it may be worth looking in to the callout rates.

Another alternative to BigZoo and OneSuite
1.9 cents/min local access and 2.9 toll free.
FLAT RATE NO ANY FEES. Actually tere is agent program http://www.3longdistance.com/agents/

Yeah, I used to use BigZoo as my long distance...provider(?) for a long while. I switched over to OneSuite in December after I heard BZ was going out of business. I love the cheaper rates but I've noticed my friend and I tend to get disconnected quite a bit. Granted we stay on the phone for a while, but I never had a problem like this with BZ. We're currently trying to find another provider ourselves. = /

I found a website at http://www.getpin.com which offers the similar products and service as bigzoo but slightly lower rate for domestic and international.

Seems for me still best service - and new access numbers even in our 25000 college town !

You were the first referral link on google. Enjoy the extra minutes ;)

Thanks! I noticed my referral link was munged... now it's fixed.

I think ive found a better long distance prepaid phone card service with www.talkloop.com. They have some of the best international rates i've found online, with 1 minute rounding and no monthly fees or surcharges.

Ive been calling china for less than 1.9 cents and a buddy of mine is calling his family in india for 7.9 cents.

They are also giving away free credit just for signuping up. I signed up for $50 and they gave me a $5.00 bonus. I could always use free minutes. :)

One thing I noticed about the other providers is they charge weekly fees when you dont' use it. Try checking http://www.click4prepaid.com i've been using it for a few years now

Hey, did you lose any money with BigZoo. I have been using OneSuite for over two years and I love them. I think by now I have probably saved thousands of dollars. Rates are cheap indeed. Good find for you regarding OneSuite, you won't be disappointed.

I may have lost a few bucks with BigZoo, but with these companies I only put $10 in at a time. I've been happy enough with OneSuite, but sometimes the call quality isn't great.

Really? I have more problems with my cell phone. I can't sit at my desk and get reception unless I use the earpiece and hold the phone over my head. Onesuite I use on my land line and haven't had any problems.
