Fake WH Reporter Vanishes

Via Dan Gillmor: 'Reporter' Gannon is Gone

Thought the Armstrong Williams payola was bad? This is even more questionable, in my opinion. Interesting lunchtime reading, that's for sure.

Google results for "Jeff Gannon"

I have been following this story a little, and could only get tiny bits and pieces. The link you are sourced to is great and gives a wonderful timeline! Thank God for bloggers!

It gets better, he's a tax evader

read the "5:40am, Feb 12 Update"

I'm waiting for McClellan to use a "Sticks and Stones" theory to justify Guckert's credentials. He was only armed with a pen and a website right? What was the harm? ;)

The comments on both Gillmor's post and the post he and Ross linked to are worth catching up on.

Trying to catch up on the press briefings, there's some relevant comments here: February 10, 2005 Press Gaggle with Scott McClellan.

They're trying to make this about his advocacy and the legitimacy of his news company, when what seems to be the issue with the bloggers I've read (and myself) is that he apparently received daily WH briefing room credentials for almost 2 years under a (at least partially) false identity.

It.... doesn't..... stop.

Now, Mr. Gannon/Guckert may have been an honest-to-goodness prostitute.

I get it now - this is all a scheme to drum up support for the war to increase demand for "hot military stud" escorts.
