Flickr Update

Thanks to some of my family and friends accepting my Flickr invites yesterday, my account was upgraded to a pro one for three months. I'll continue to test the service and post about my experience. I'll also try to integrate some of their features into this site.

I must not get the big deal. What's the difference between Flickr and juist setting up Gallery myself?

OK, I know not everyone can set up Gallery themselves...

BTW, if I hit preview, the site loses my TypeKey info.

About TypeKey/preview - I'll check out the templates. I may need to make some changes.

Gallery is OK (and yes, I've set it up by myself :) ) but I've found it cumbersome enough to administer that I wasn't sharing out photos with it as often as I did when I first set it up. I like the "photostream" nature of Flickr, as well as the ease in specifying who can view a particular picture. Gallery certainly gives you a lot more control over presentation, but I wasn't really doing all that much with it.

Granted, Flickr makes you join to view photos, but I figure that encourages you to share photos yourself after you sign up.

I've found the process of uploading photos to Flickr easier and quicker than doing the same in Gallery. And I like the RSS/Atom feeds and the "badge" feature (which I'm now using on my index page). Right now, I'm setting a few pics to public and seeing how all this works.

I'll take an invite. Wouldn't mind seeing what Flickr has to offer. I have not looked at the service yet, so I will be lazy and ask, what kind of space do they give you for photos?

You're invited. They allow you to upload up to 10MB of photos per month with the free service.
