Gmail Turns Hostile

I bet if I install Google's Gmail Notifier I can avoid getting this nasty login prompt:

Apparently, this breaks the fine Gmail Notifier I'm already using and liking.

The hazards of open betas and free lunches, I guess...

Update (31-Aug-2004 8:35am): It appears that they removed this change. The Gmail Notifier Mozilla Extension is working again.

Update (1-Sep-2004 1:47pm): I spoke too soon. The change is back.

Update (2-Sep-2004 6:15am): They changed it again; now the Gmail Notifier is working again.

I know it is not the point, but I actually started using Google's own notifier. I thought that would save me the hassle of updating the extension. I guess it saves me the hassle of Google keeping out third party applications too. Although I read somewhere where Google planned to later open up more to such applications.

I think after the release of the Linux FileSystem Hack that they kind of got pissed. Really 1 gig for a filesystem is not worth the hassle for me to try such a thing. Google is pretty cool about stuff and some people always gotta take it one step too far. IMO, anyway. I am referring to the Linux FileSystem hack and not the extension you are referencing. That is a cool extension and I doubt Google would have much of an issue with that.
