Down

We had quite a storm here today and my cable modem is down. ICYG is offline for a while. I may have problems with my router as well. :( Wish me luck!

Wondered what was up. I was just about to upload content and could not connect.

Something apparently happened to 1&1 Hosting as well, Brutal Deluxe and Don's site are both down with the same message.

I'll give you a try later, sorry to hear your equipment may have problems.

Well, cable is still down on at least our whole block. Something definitely zapped some of my stuff over the network connections; the integrated NIC on my server is fritzy (i.e. not working at all) and two of the four LAN ports on my trusty Linksys BEFSR41 appear to be shot. I added a spare NIC to my server, so it's OK. The Linksys lost its configuration during the event, so I took the opportunity to upgrade the firmware to a slightly newer version and I have a barebones config ready for when the cable modem comes back online. Luckily I have a 5-port 10/100 switch that I cascade to one of the router's LAN ports, so "I'm not dead yet!" ;)

That must have been a nasty storm. I've never had network stuff get fried like this.

We're baaack! ;)

Cable was restored overnight - the cable modem required a power cycle to come up properly. Luckily, it and the router's WAN port are working properly.

Oh well, I needed an excuse to consider getting the WRT54G... ;)
