SCO Sues AutoZone

Well, it's happened. SCO is suing AutoZone for using Linux, which they allege includes their allegedly copyrighted UNIX System V code, without a license from them. It takes quite a few springy steps to make the leaps they're making. SCO has also announced their quarterly earnings (actually a loss, again) and Darlth is saying they'll start making money off SCOsource "real soon now." Riiight.

I'm surprised the FTC hasn't yet sued SCO for selling non-refundable licenses to something they haven't proven they have any ownership of. Or that the SEC hasn't fined SCO for making false statements to boost their stock price. Hopefully reality will set in before too long.

Comments

This almost seems like a scene from the movie "Anti-trust". I wonder if they are any programmers being "offed" in this?

Remember... this industry is "binary... you're either a 1 or a 0. Alive or dead". ;)

That movie sucked. ;) I think I watched it on a plane trip. Tim Robbins as an evil Gates-like clone was pretty funny.

My personal favorite was the HTML code as some phenominal application code. I cannot imagine going through HTML and thinking, "wow can this guy code!"

I hope they sue me next, I am a Linux user! Then I can countersue for harassment. SCO is a bunch of idiots. I use AIX and I use Linux. Linux is a different animal from AIX I would love it if they would let us know what it is that was stolen for Linux.

My favorite part of the whole movie is the cool metalic CD cases they use. I would like to get some. The movie itself is doesn't offer much.

I think they definitely picked the right guy to play Gates.
