Namath

Perhaps someone's had enough of female sideline reporters at NFL games. I don't profess to know Namath all that well; I know him better as the pitchman he was after his life on the field.

Maybe he was trying to win a bet.

Another article makes it sound like he'd been boozing it up before the interview.

Update: He has apologized to Kolber.

I read that too Alex, actually via your NFL news feed. Like yourself, I know Namath better as a pitchman. I think ESPN is trying to be too politically correct personally. What's the big freaking deal, the dude said he wanted to kiss her. So what? ESPN is trying to act like this is a Millen incident or something. I guess I just see that either Namath was messing around or he was in his own flamboyant way throwing a compliment toward her. ESPN needs to get of the political correct bull, ever since the Rush incident they are acting holier than now.

As a Jets fan, I've heard quite a bit about Joe Willie Namath. The man always has been a player - this is just an extension of it.

Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if he had been drinking beforehand.

I heard the audio clip of the interview. Joe was drunk, no doubt about it. I have heard him a lot on TV over the years and he was feeling really good when they approached him. Not that, that matters, I stand by my original comment, ESPN needs to take a step back and not make such a big deal out of this. Like Don said, the guy is a player and he was having a good time at the game, he does not work for ESPN.

I agree ESPN's probably trying to be PC here. Sounds to me like they didn't get the interview they wanted (however short is was going to be) because they wanted it to be off-the-cuff. Well, it certainly was! ;)

Audio clip here. Wow, he really did sound plastered. Is this really, news, though?
The headline should have been: "Man Gets Drunk at Football Game".

Oh yeah. Listening to that certainly and completely changes my original take on the situation. Joe definitely wants more female reporters at football games. ;)

I don't fault Joe at all; he was there to enjoy himself. I wonder if he had any warning at all about being interviewed; I doubt it.

While you all brought up good points, I think you all missed THE point, itself. She is really cute. ; )
