Mr. Smith Goes To Canton

Well, not yet, but about 5 years after he retires, I'm sure they will unveil the bust of Bruce. He broke the "since-1982" sack record today. Of course, he'd be going to the hall just because of his career with the Bills.

Congrats, Bruce.

Long time Bruce Smith fan, glad to see that he finally got the record. I just wish there was some way to know what and who the record really belongs to. I often hear Deacon Jones, but when I watch clips of Gino Marchetti and the like I just cannot help but wonder. Never-the-less, Bruce Smith is a class act and great to see him finishing his illustrious career with a record.

You know, with or without the sack record I think Bruce was a shoo-in for the Hall. Still, I'm glad he got there - he was one of only three Bills I really liked from the glory days (Jim Kelly and Steve Tasker being the others).

I know I probably will not get agreement on this, but I was actually a big Thermal Thomas fan. I know, I know the helmet incident. But the first Super Bowl, the guy was gold. And for years after that he certainly made me wish, as a Steeler fan, that he was on our team and not Buffalo.

I liked Thurman Thomas quite a bit. He seemed to be best at following a leading blocker and was also a great receiver. In his prime he was pretty darn slippery, IIRC.

Thurman Thomas NFL Career Stats.

The guy was a huge workhorse, I always refer to him as Thermal, as he was hot, even in the cold. I think Berman gave him that nickname.

Barry Foster in his prime was somewhat Thermal like, but Thomas was just so awesome for so many years. All-purpose yard master.
