24 Third Season Opener
I was looking forward to the season premiere of 24 last night, but I didn't look around for previews and such. I watched the episode cold. I liked it. My thoughts on it follow.
- I'm not thrilled about Kim coming back, but I'm glad the writers have integrated her into the plot by having her work at CTU.
- It'll be interesting to learn of Kate & Jack's relationship over the last three years from references. Since Sarah Wynter (Kate) was listed as a guest star, she may not have a large role this season. Or will she?
- I (along with probably everyone else watching the episode) knew that Salazar was going to kill his lawyer at least a minute before it happened. Bad directing, or is it just a case of "knowing the show"?
- It also wasn't a huge surprise when President Palmer kissed his doctor.
- I'm wondering why the heck Chase (I think that's his name) interacts with Jack the way he does? Jack's current status with CTU was unclear to me. It seems unlikely that someone so much younger would outrank Jack.
- I thought Jack's discomfort throughout the episode might have had to do with being physically and/or mentally tortured while in the field. Imagine my surprise at the end of the episode. They've gotten really good at giving episode-ending scenes a lot of punch.
- I think the theme of bio-terrorism will work well for this season's plot. It's definitely creepy.
I still dig the concept and execution of 24, even if it is quite fantastic at times. I'm just glad that the FOX Network doesn't broadcast in the 10-11p time slot, else we'd probably see this show butting heads with Blue.

My co-workers and I are trying to figure out who's going to die first. Right now, my money's on Jack.
