"Rush In Rio" DVD Details

Over on Rush.com they've begun promoting the DVD I mentioned here.

After reading the description of the DVD contents, I think I'm going to be a very happy owner of this DVD. Hopefully the described 16:9 video will be an anamorphic presentation. It'll be nice to have a Rush concert video that includes an entire show! The extras should be cool as well.
Now, can we have a release date?

Comments

Alex,

I phoned the distributor, Coming Home Entertainment, and asked about a release date for Rush in Rio. Their answer, late July or early August, 2003. Wich it were sooner.

Curtis Carroll

Thanks, Curtis.

The date has been set in stone for August 5!

this is going to be to cool!!! let's hope they DO NOT edit Neil's solo for even one second!!! He Has out done himself with his latest installment of "The Rhythm Method" I simply cannot wait!!!

From a long time drummer fan of RUSH!!!!

I hope it is the whole concert! I heard their might be Test for Echo footage as well! I HOPE SO!!! **RE RELEASE ROLL THE BONES, COUNTERPARTS and TEST FOR ECHO on VINYL!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!! It sounds so much clearer than a CD.

August?

I HAVE TO WAIT 'TILL AUGUST?!!!

I guess we all have been waiting since Chronicles for more footage...so a few more months will not hurt.

Ummm. There is no scientific data to support your hypothesis. Actually, it is quite the opposite. I understand the love felt for the older medium, but the encoding routines are so well done now that it would be foolish to think otherwise.

New DVD ought to be great, I'd like to see some behind the scenes footage also. The band is always so guarded about that sort of stuff.

I'd like it if they just remastered "Vapor Trails" and left more than 6dB of dynamic range. ;)

If you go to the Amazon.co.uk website and doa search. Rush in Rio has a release date of August 23rd

Thanks, Steve. Checking this out now.

The Amazon UK site had August 25 as release date, and the brits can go ahead and order. No information could be obtained from the Amazon.com US site. Somebody with a good evidence of what the release date is PLEASE HELP.
The waiting sucks!!!

Check out my latest article on the subject. There are two online sources that say the US release date for both the "Live in Rio" DVD and CD sets is September 16th.

How do you know Aug. 5th is set in stone?

I can't wait for this DVD to be released either...I went to two of Rush's Vapor trails shows last year (both in Toronto)...anyway I actually read on many different websites that the release date is 'fall 2003'.

The date is actually August 25, 2003.

The Rush In Rio DVD is set for release 9-16-03 You can pre order your copy 8-25-03 at your Local Retail Stores or on line

Coming Home Studios..............

Called "Coming Home Studios" today. They now say Sept. 16th is the release date.

Ed: I'm going to delete any more redundant posts about the release date. -a

Just Read:
The DVD WILL BE RELEASED....
[redundant info removed. -ed]
In Japan AUG 21st!

I WILL BE READY!

THEN WHEN!!!! ????

PLZZZZ
can we pre order the dvd ??where?? when??

CHS now has a release date of August 16th on their site. I wuld think that if it is available in Japan on 8/21 it surely would be available in the US and Canada before then...

The DVD release date has been pushed an extra week, September 23 is now the official release date...and I'm pretty sure that the reason is because, guess what, they're releasing a Rush In Rio 3-CD set also! What do you guys think about that? Personally, I'm a little iffy on that; Different Stages was enough, Rush should have waited another ten years or so for another live CD....check this out,

Thanks for the link!

I will probably buy both packages if they're fairly priced. I want to do my part to encourage the band to keep releasing product. "Vapor Trails" was a great album and tour.

If the live CD set is too expensive, I will proabably just transcode the DVD audio and make CDs for my personal use. I picked up a 3-CD live set from Pearl Jam the other day for $15. I think that's a fair price.

Coming Home Studios has just posted on their website a release of August 16, 2003.
