I've Been RTS Gaming Again

I was talking to some friends about my all-time favorite PC games, and "Total Annihilation" was on my list. I hadn't played it in awhile; I loaded it up, patched it, and started playing it again last week. Also, I had heard that Civilization III was pretty cool; I saw it on sale for $30 over the weekend and decided to pick it up.

It's amazing how much fun TA still is to play; what's exceptional now is that it's running on a computer that's fast enough to run a large game with many units without slowdowns. And there is a large development community making new units and maps for the game; but I haven't added any of their mods to my setup yet. Once I re-learn the game's shortcuts and fine-tune my strategy I'll probably add the mods and try to get some online games going.
I don't have tons of time for playing games, but point-in-time savable RTS games are great for me since I sometimes have to quickly get off the computer to deal with little problems. ;) I'm hoping CivIII is just as playable as TA.

You're not alone in your love of Total Annihilation. I remember playing many games of TA with my co-workers, and enjoying the perverse thrill of launching nukes at them... :)

My cousin's boyfriend also lists TA as his favorite RTS game ever. I thought it to be an odd choice, since everyone else usually points to Civ or Warcraft or Age Of Empires...

I think I might reinstall TA again... we'll have to get a game going.

Civ is not an RTS game ;)

The best RTS game ever, was Warzone2100 and that is not an opinion.

PC Gamer magazine agreed with me :) Check it out.

Did you know that if you type RTS Game into google, this is the second link in the list?

Hmm.

#2 in Google for "RTS gaming"...

#1 for "RSA-640"... (ahead of RSA)

#3 for "Jared Campbell"

Maybe I should put up some ads. ;)

I always wondered if Google ads were worth having.
