The Upcoming NFL Season
The upcoming NFL season should be an interesting one. The addition of the Houston Texans and the realignment of the league into eight divisions will definitely shake up things from a scheduling perspective. And I will probably play some fantasy football this year (I haven't played for the last two seasons).
I'll watch the Hall of Fame game tonight to see how the Texans look in their debut, but I doubt they'll be any sort of contender for their division against the established teams. I haven't really scouted the preseason league news at all, so I will try to catch up - I'd like to participate in a live online draft this year. My last few seasons of online fantasy football all involved random drafts.
We get pretty good NFL coverage here, with the Ravens, Eagles, Redskins, and Steelers as our "regional" teams whose games take precedence over other games. Sometimes I wish we had ESPN so I can check out the occasionally good Sunday night game, but I usually do OK. Fantasy football can make even those Bengals-Browns games somewhat interesting. ;)
I still have a place in my heart for the Bills, and I hope Drew Bledsoe can lead them to a winning season. It will be neat to see if they can win their season series against the Patriots.
I'll probably be journaling my NFL thoughts here regularly over the next six months, so there will be plenty of opportunities for me to prognosticate and analyze each week's activity. I hope I get some visitors that want to talk football with me.
Kickoff in a month!

As long as it's anyone but Miami, I don't care. :)

It does seem wide open, doesn't it? I'm still trying to digest all the current talent evaluations and injury reports. I signed up for a fantasy league on Yahoo - doing a live draft in a week.
Yahoo's FF site is particularly friendly this year. Not bad for free. I did decide to pay $5 for the season's worth of "light" fantasy coverage by The Sporting News that's available on the site. Should be an enjoyable experience.
